Aims
1. We instil joy of learning in Science by inspiring our pupils’ curiosity about our world and discovering the relevance of Science in real world context. We aim to enthuse pupils to innovate and pursue STEM for future learning and work.
2. We facilitate pupils’ acquisition of scientific knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes through inquiry based learning so that they become confident, self-directed and lifelong learners for the future.

Nebula (Secondary 1 & 2) | Terms 1 & 2 | Just like how the formation of a star involves the culmination of interstellar matter over time, our programme hopes to bring together the ‘sparks’ of Science education (inspire, inquire, and innovate) to instill in students a joy of learning and become ‘shining stars’ that contribute back to their community. Our programmes are aligned to the Lower Secondary Science contexts and themes (_i.e., sustainability in clean energy and water conservation_), as well as learning outcomes taught. It is also aligned to the visions of Science education, and aims to develop 21st century competencies in our students as well. |
Nebula+ (Secondary 3) | Term 4 | This is a cohort-wide programme for our Secondary 3 students that aims to deepen the skills taught in the Nebula programme for our Lower Secondary students. Our aims are for students to appreciate the relevance of STEM-related concepts to the context of sustainability, to analyze data and generate creative solutions to problems relating to sustainability based on evidence, and to apply relevant STEM-related knowledge to make responsible decisions. |
Youth STEM Empowerment Programme | June | Youth STEM Empowerment Programme (YSEP) is a mentoring programme that guides students to develop innovative products and solutions to solve real-life community problems using Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The programme also equips the students with relevant design thinking, communication, and STEM skills. Last year, students were tasked to empathize, ideate, and prototype a project relating to the United Nations Sustainable development goals (SDGs), such as underserved communities in Singapore, climate action, issues raised by the COVID-19 pandemic and empowering persons with disabilities, with STEM. Through this project, students develop 21st century competencies and are instilled with values such as compassion, responsibility, communication, critical thinking and teamwork. This programmes presents a valuable opportunity for students to contribute back to the community with their knowledge and skills learnt. |
Applied Learning Modules (ApLMs) - Offered by the Polytechnics | Term 2 or 4 | Applied Learning Modules (ApLMs) are elective modules in applied areas that aim to enhance the learning experience of our students through practice-oriented approaches. This experience will also help them to discover their strengths and interests, experience polytechnic life, and expose them to possible post-secondary courses and careers.In addition, students will also be exposed to learning approaches adopted in the polytechnics, which involve a higher practical component as well as more group work and oral presekntations. Every year, we provide our Upper Secondary students with the opportunity to participate in the ApLMs according to their strengths and interests. |
Competitions | Terms 1 & 3 | Our students are given opportunities to participate in various Science competitions that allow them to test their knowledge and skills. Such competitions include the C.B. Paul Science Quiz, the International Biomedical Quiz, and the Singapore Junior Chemistry/Biology/Physics Olympiads |
